A Half-Day in Ari

You really can see Ari properly in half a day if you sequence it well. This route opens at the Café Amazon flagship, drifts through the cafe-hopping sois, stops for Michelin-rated khao soi at lunch, ducks into a free glass-dome art space, slows down over matcha in the afternoon, and closes out at a poolside bar as the sun goes down — all within walking distance of BTS Ari.

A Half-Day in Ari

🔄 Updated 10 Aug 2026

This half-day route suits anyone who only has one window of time in Ari but still wants to hit the cafes, the food and the photo corners. Every stop sits within walking distance of BTS Ari, so there's no hopping in and out of cars. It runs from the Café Amazon flagship in the morning, through the cafe-hopping sois, a Michelin khao soi lunch, a free art space, an afternoon matcha break, and finally a poolside bar in the early evening — an easy, unhurried six hours.

The route

Half day

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — cafes, food and art around Ari

10:00
Café Amazon Experience Ari (Flagship)Kick things off at the Café Amazon flagship, the six-storey glass tower that's the largest in Thailand — a few steps from BTS Ari Exit 2. Ride the lift up through the specialty bar where you can pick your own beans, then the chocolate-and-matcha zone. It opens at 07:00, entry is free, and you only pay for what you order.
11:00
Wander Soi Ari 1-5Walk straight from the Amazon building into the soi. This stretch is Ari's cafe-hopping street, where the style of shop changes every few steps. Don't miss the bougainvillea house on Soi Ari 5, a pink-flowered wall that's all over Instagram — walking the sois costs nothing, so just wander and shoot photos before lunch.
12:00
Lunch: Ongtong KhaosoiLunch at Ongtong Khaosoi, a Michelin Bib Gourmand khao soi shop on Soi Phahonyothin 7. Order the chicken or beef khao soi in a rich, coconutty broth for 89-119 baht a bowl. It's open until 20:30, but the lunch rush gets busy — come slightly off-peak and you'll skip the queue.
13:30
Pearl Art SpaceWalk off lunch at Pearl Art Space, the pearl-shaped glass dome in front of the Pearl Bangkok building near BTS Ari Exit 1. The rotating art exhibitions are free to view, open 10:00-19:00, and there's a paint bar if you want to try your hand at a canvas too.
14:15
Peace Oriental TeahouseRest your feet at Peace Oriental Teahouse, the Ari Soi 1 branch just about 117 meters from the BTS. Order the Matcha Extremist, a strong matcha served with black sticky rice ice cream, or the cold Pastel Matcha — the upstairs seating is the quieter spot.
15:15
La Villa AriClose out the shopping stretch at La Villa Ari, a community mall right by BTS Ari Exit 4. Duck into Villa Market for imported groceries and gifts, or grab a sweet from After You or iberry before the last stop.
16:00
Baby Bar BangkokFinish at Baby Bar Bangkok on Soi Phahonyothin 11, in the lobby of the Craftsman Hotel. This is exactly when the place flips from brunch cafe into poolside cocktail bar. It's about 800-900 meters from BTS Ari — ride one stop to Saphan Khwai for a shorter walk, or take a motorbike taxi. Order the truffle chicken wings with a Baby Shower cocktail to close out the half day.

Getting around without rushing

Ari is easy to reach on the BTS Sukhumvit line, with three stations close together — Ari, Sanam Pao and Phaya Thai, where you can connect straight onto the Airport Rail Link to Suvarnabhumi. Every stop on this route is walkable except Baby Bar Bangkok, which sits about 800-900 meters from BTS Ari — if you'd rather not walk that far, ride the BTS one stop to Saphan Khwai instead, which is closer.

Adjust the plan to your time and style

The route above runs about six hours, but Ari stretches and shrinks easily because everything clusters around one station. If you have less time or want a different flavour, swap it around like this.

  • Only three hours: keep Café Amazon Experience → Soi Ari 1-5 → khao soi at Ongtong, then take the BTS back. You still get the cafes, the food and the photo spots in half the time.
  • Cafe-focused: drop La Villa Ari and spend the time sitting longer at Peace Oriental Teahouse, or add a stop in Soi Ari 4 — the shops change every few steps here.
  • With kids or older travellers: stick to the air-conditioned stops with seating — the Amazon flagship, Pearl Art Space and La Villa Ari all have seats and restrooms — and cut the afternoon soi walk when the sun is hardest.
  • Prefer an evening version: start at 3pm at La Villa Ari, walk the sois once the light softens, and finish at Baby Bar Bangkok after dark — fewer people than midday and better photos.

💡 Know before you go: Ari

🚇
The right BTS exit

BTS Ari Exit 2 is closest to the Amazon building, Exit 1 to Pearl Bangkok. For the final Baby Bar stop, ride one more station to Saphan Khwai instead — the walk from there is much shorter.

💸
Budget per person

Around 700-1,200 baht covering two coffees, the khao soi lunch, a dessert and a closing drink. Pearl Art Space and the soi walk itself cost nothing.

🕐
When it is quietest

Late weekday mornings are the easiest. The khao soi queue peaks roughly noon to 1:30pm at weekends, so eat before or after that window if you can.

☔
If it rains

Almost the whole route works indoors — the six-storey Amazon building, Pearl Art Space and La Villa Ari are all covered. Only the soi walk needs a break in the weather.

FAQ

How long does this half-day Ari plan take?

About 6 hours, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you want to linger longer over coffee or photos, it's easy to stretch out — every stop except the last is walkable from BTS Ari.

I don't have a full half-day — what can I cut?

If you're short on time, drop Pearl Art Space or La Villa Ari first, since they're bonus stops rather than meals. Keeping just the morning cafe, lunch and the closing stop still gives you a real taste of Ari.

Do I need to book any of these places ahead?

Most don't require a reservation — just walk in. The exception is around lunchtime on weekends, when the khao soi shop and Baby Bar Bangkok can get busy, so leave a little extra time for a queue if you're going on a Saturday or Sunday.

Is Ari better on a weekday or a weekend?

Weekdays are easier if you would rather not queue. Ongtong and the Soi Ari cafes are busiest on Saturday and Sunday. If you can only come at a weekend, start about an hour earlier than this plan and you will hit shorter lines.

How much walking does this plan involve?

Roughly 3-4 km spread across the half day. The longest single stretch is BTS Ari to Baby Bar Bangkok, about 800-900 m. If that is too far, get off at BTS Saphan Khwai instead or take a motorbike taxi.
