A Half-Day in Siam-Pratunam

You can cover Siam-Pratunam properly in half a day if you sequence it west to east. This route opens with drip coffee inside the BACC art centre, crosses the Pathumwan Skywalk, wanders Siam Square, stops for an old-school Thai-Chinese lunch, pauses at the Erawan Shrine, slows down over coffee at CentralWorld, and closes at the Platinum wholesale mall in Pratunam — almost all of it walkable by skywalk from BTS Siam.

A Half-Day in Siam-Pratunam

🔄 Updated 24 Aug 2026

This half-day route suits anyone who only has one window of time in Siam-Pratunam but still wants the cafes, the art, the food, the shrines and the shopping. Almost every stop connects by skywalk from BTS Siam, so you barely touch street level. It runs west to east — from the BACC art centre, across the Pathumwan Skywalk, through Siam Square, an old-school lunch, the Erawan Shrine, coffee at CentralWorld, and finally the Pratunam wholesale malls — an easy, unhurried five to six hours.

The route

Half day

10 a.m. to late afternoon — cafes, art, food and shopping from Siam to Pratunam

10:00
Gallery Drip Coffee (BACC art centre)Kick things off at Gallery Drip Coffee on the ground floor of the BACC art centre. Get off at BTS National Stadium Exit 3, which links straight into the building, or walk the skywalk from BTS Siam in about 5 minutes. Order a single-origin pour-over roasted in-house, then wind up the circular ramps of the glass-dome atrium for the art shots. Entry is free (the cafe opens 10:30, the gallery 10:00, closed Mondays).
10:50
Pathumwan SkywalkStep out of the BACC onto the adjoining Pathumwan Skywalk, an elevated walkway over the intersection lined with lotus-stem sculpture and murals painted by 13 artists. It's free, open 24 hours, and it's the exact link across to BTS Siam and the malls — stop for a mid-city photo before moving on.
11:30
Siam SquareFollow the skywalk to BTS Siam and drop into Siam Square, the youth district built around an Urban Park concept, packed with fashion shops, cosmetics, cafes and event plazas. Wandering and photos cost nothing; come Friday to Sunday evening and there's the Walking Street with cover-dance performances.
12:15
Lunch: Inter Restaurant (Siam Square)Lunch at Inter Restaurant, a long-running Thai-Chinese diner in the middle of Siam Square you can reach on foot from inside the square. Order the signature Amma's fried rice, tom yum or a spicy stir-fry for around 100-150 baht a head. It's busy at lunch, so come slightly off-peak to skip the queue.
13:30
Erawan ShrineAfter lunch, take the skywalk from Siam toward Ratchaprasong (you can pass Chit Lom) for about 10 minutes to reach the Erawan Shrine at the Ratchaprasong intersection. This four-faced Brahma shrine draws Thai and foreign visitors all day, with resident dance troupes performing thank-you offerings. People come to ask for luck in work and business; entry is free, with flower-and-incense sets from a few tens of baht.
14:15
CentralWorld + % ArabicaCross over into CentralWorld, the huge mall on the Ratchaprasong corner, and pause for coffee at % Arabica on floor 1 in the Central zone — a Spanish Latte or an iced latte to cool down. From there you can shop and snack for a long stretch in the air-conditioning; the plaza out front is the same one you see on New Year's countdown broadcasts.
15:15
Platinum Fashion Mall (Pratunam)Finish by walking north from CentralWorld into Pratunam, about 10 minutes, to the Platinum Fashion Mall — a wholesale-and-retail clothing hub with over 2,000 shops, where buying several pieces gets you the cheaper wholesale price. It's open until 20:00. If you're hungry again, the famous Go-Ang Pratunam chicken rice is nearby, and from the Pratunam pier you can catch a Saen Saep canal boat on to other neighbourhoods.

Take the skywalk, not the street

The backbone of this area is the skywalk linking BTS National Stadium, Siam and Chit Lom to almost every mall without touching sun or traffic. From the BACC all the way to Ratchaprasong you can stay up on the walkway — only the final stretch from CentralWorld to the Platinum mall in Pratunam drops you onto the street for about 10 minutes. If you want to dodge the afternoon sun, pack an umbrella or route through the malls' indoor connections.

Adjust the plan to your time and style

The route above runs about five to six hours, but Siam-Pratunam stretches and shrinks easily because everything lines up along the skywalk. If you have less time or want a different flavour, swap it around like this.

  • Only three hours: keep Gallery Drip Coffee at the BACC → Siam Square → lunch at Inter Restaurant, then take the BTS back. You still get the cafe, the art and the food in half the time.
  • Shopping-focused: drop the BACC and the shrine, and spend the extra time in Siam Square, CentralWorld and the Platinum mall in Pratunam — this district runs from luxury malls all the way down to wholesale.
  • With kids or older travellers: stick to the air-conditioned stops with seating — the BACC, CentralWorld and the Platinum mall all have seats and restrooms — and cut the afternoon skywalk stretch when the sun is hardest.
  • For the shrine circuit: add the Trimurti and Ganesha shrines in front of CentralWorld after the Erawan Shrine. All three sit around the Ratchaprasong intersection within walking distance, covering love and work wishes in one loop.

💡 Know before you go: Siam-Pratunam

🚇
The skywalk is your best friend

BTS National Stadium is closest to the BACC, while BTS Siam is the central hub with skywalk links to Siam Square, Paragon and Ratchaprasong. Pratunam has no BTS, so walk on from CentralWorld or take a Saen Saep canal boat to Pratunam pier.

💸
Budget per person

Around 500-1,000 baht covering coffee, lunch at Inter Restaurant, a snack and an afternoon drink. The BACC, the skywalk, Siam Square and paying respects at the shrine all cost nothing; Pratunam shopping is up to you.

🕐
When it is quietest

Late weekday mornings are easiest. Inter Restaurant and the malls are busiest around midday to afternoon on weekends, and the Platinum mall in Pratunam is cheaper and calmer on a weekday morning.

☔
If it rains

Almost the whole route works indoors — the BACC, Siam Square One, CentralWorld and the Platinum mall are all covered and air-conditioned, and parts of the skywalk are roofed. Only the walk into Pratunam needs a break in the weather.

FAQ

How long does this half-day Siam-Pratunam plan take?

About 5-6 hours, running from 10 a.m. into the late afternoon. If you want to linger longer over coffee or shopping, it's easy to stretch out — almost every stop is walkable by skywalk from BTS Siam, except the Pratunam stretch where you drop to street level.

I don't have a full half-day — what can I cut?

If you're short on time, drop the Pathumwan Skywalk detour or the Platinum mall in Pratunam first, since they're bonus stops. Keeping the BACC coffee, Siam Square, lunch and the Erawan Shrine still gives you a real taste of the area.

Do I need to book any of these places ahead?

No reservations needed — just walk in everywhere. The exception is lunchtime on weekends, when Inter Restaurant and the Siam cafes can get busy, so leave a little extra time for a queue or come off-peak if you're going on a Saturday or Sunday.

Is Siam-Pratunam better on a weekday or a weekend?

Weekdays are easier if you would rather not deal with crowds; the malls and popular shops are busiest on Saturday and Sunday. But the Siam Square Walking Street and cover-dance shows only run Friday to Sunday evenings, and the Pratunam wholesale malls are easiest to walk on a weekday morning.

What's the easiest way to get around this area?

Use the skywalk as your spine — it links BTS National Stadium, Siam and Chit Lom to almost every mall without touching the street. For Pratunam, which has no BTS, walk on from CentralWorld for about 10 minutes or take a Saen Saep canal boat to the Pratunam pier.
