Where to stay in
Hua Hin Town & central beach

Hua Hin Town is where most first-time visitors end up booking, because it puts the night market, the historic railway station (one of Thailand's prettiest), the restaurant-and-bar strip of Naresdamri Road, and the central beach all within walking distance of each other. Roughly, it splits into the in-town side around the market and station, which is cheaper and close to the food, and the beachfront side, where the sand is just across the road or a few minutes' walk away. One thing to know: the central beach is a town beach, good for strolling and seafood dinners, but it goes wide and shallow at low tide and isn't the clear water you get on the islands. Evenings around the market and Naresdamri Road are lively, with seafood restaurants and live-music bars, so light sleepers should avoid rooms right on the bar street. The picks below run from a budget hotel near the market to five-star beachfront resorts and a private-pool boutique.

Hub Hua Hin 57 Hotel

★ 3-star · Best for: Budget · walk to the market and beach · 🔎 Find a deal on Agoda

A budget boutique hotel on a soi in the town center, about a 5-minute walk to Hua Hin Beach and only around 200 metres from the night market. The draw is the walk-to-everything location for food and the sea, with clean rooms, cold air-con, and fast Wi-Fi, plus free parking. It scores consistently well and ranks among the top budget stays in Hua Hin, with praise for the value and friendly staff. The trade-offs are small rooms, no pool, and a soi that catches some market-area noise in the evening. It suits travellers who prioritise location and price over facilities.

City Beach Resort

★ 3-star · Best for: Mid-budget · pool, walk to beach and market · 🔎 Find a deal on Agoda

A long-running hotel in the town center on Naresdamri Road, about a 5-minute walk to Hua Hin Beach and under 10 minutes to the night market. The highlights are a decent-sized pool, rooms with balconies, and a location that scores around 9.2 for being central to everything, plus good value for having a pool in this area. The trade-off is that the building and rooms show their age, and several reviews say plainly that it's due for a refresh. It suits travellers who want a pool and a central location on a modest budget and aren't fussed about a newer room.

G Hua Hin Resort & Mall

★ 4-star · Best for: Mid-budget · long lap pool, attached to a mall · 🔎 Find a deal on Agoda

A four-star hotel attached to the Market Village mall, with the beach just across the road, sitting a little to the south of the town center, about a 15-minute walk to the night market. The feature reviews mention most is the saltwater pool, which is longer than the average hotel pool and good for a real lap swim, plus spacious rooms, comfy beds, and shops and a supermarket in the mall next door. Reviews praise the value next to pricier hotels nearby and the attentive staff. The trade-offs are that being mall-attached doesn't feel like a full beachfront resort, and it's a bit out from the central market. It suits families and anyone who likes a good pool with mall convenience.

Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa

★ 5-star · Best for: Luxury · beachfront tower next to the night market · 🔎 Find a deal on Agoda

A five-star beachfront resort on the central Hua Hin beach, only about 300 metres from the night market and an easy walk in. Reviews praise the central spot for walking to both the market and the beach, the Hilton-chain service, and the breakfast. The trade-offs are that it's a big hotel that gets busy in high season, and some reviews note rooms feeling dated next to newer resorts. It suits anyone who wants beachfront luxury and a walk into town in one place.

The highlights are sprawling beachfront gardens, four pools, a kids club, and private-pool villas set apart from the main building. Reviews praise the calm, slow-paced atmosphere for relaxing and the walkable-into-town location. The trade-offs are that it's an older resort leaning classic rather than modern, and it sits a little south of the town center. It suits families and anyone who loves the charm of a historic seaside hotel.

The Standard Hua Hin

★ 5-star · Best for: Design · colourful beachfront resort · 🔎 Find a deal on Agoda

A design-forward five-star beachfront resort from The Standard, opened in 2021 in central Hua Hin, about a 10-minute walk to both the beach and the railway station. The highlights are playful, colourful design, a lively pool scene, several restaurants and bars, an open-air spa, and a private beach. Travel + Leisure readers once ranked it the best resort in Southeast Asia. Reviews praise the service, the food, and how good-looking the property is. The trade-offs are that the bold style and busy pool atmosphere won't suit anyone after a quiet retreat, and rates run above the other beachfront resorts in the area. It suits couples and travellers who like a stylish, energetic place.

Cape Nidhra Hotel

★ 5-star · Best for: Private luxury · every suite has its own pool · 🔎 Find a deal on Agoda

A five-star all-suite beachfront boutique whose clear selling point is that every suite has its own private pool, set right between the beach and the town, walkable into the market area and Naresdamri Road. The highlights are a high level of privacy, spacious suites with private pools or jacuzzis, beach access from the property, a spa, and a breakfast that reviews single out as excellent. It scores around 9.2 for couples, with praise for the service, the cleanliness, and the quiet atmosphere. The trade-offs are that it's a small hotel and the priciest in this group, and most suites look onto gardens or pools rather than directly at the sea. It suits couples and honeymooners who want privacy in a central location.

FAQ

In Hua Hin Town, should I stay on the beachfront or in town?

It depends on your budget and priorities. The beachfront side, like the Hilton or Centara, puts you a step from the sand with good views, but costs more and means a big resort. The in-town side around the market and railway station, like Hub Hua Hin 57 or City Beach Resort, is much cheaper and walkable to the food and the market, though most places are about a 5-minute walk down to the beach. Choose beachfront if you want to wake up by the sea and the budget allows; choose in-town for easy eating and value.

Is Hua Hin Town easy to get around without a car?

Within the town itself you can walk to almost everything, the night market, the railway station, the beach, and the restaurants on Naresdamri Road, so you don't need a car. For places further out, like the floating market, the vineyard, the temple at Khao Takiab, or a water park, use Grab or the green songthaews that run along Phetkasem Road. Motorbike taxis wait around the market, and metered taxis are scarcer than in big cities, but Grab works fine. Most people staying in town get around Hua Hin easily without renting a car, unless they want to hit several far-flung spots in one day.

Can you swim at the central Hua Hin beach, and is the water clear?

The central Hua Hin beach is a town beach: you can swim and the water is fairly calm, which is fine for families with kids, but it's not the clear water of the southern islands. At low tide it goes very wide and shallow, so you have to walk out a long way to reach water deep enough to swim. The charm here is more about beach strolls, the horses you can ride along the sand, and seafood dinners than snorkelling. For clearer water, people tend to head south to Khao Takiab beach or drive further out, but for a casual swim and a seaside-town atmosphere, the central beach does the job.
