Where to stay in
Jomtien

Jomtien sits about 10-15 minutes south of central Pattaya by car. People stay here because the beach is longer, the sand is wider, and it's far less hectic than Pattaya Beach. Mornings bring joggers and cyclists along the beach road, and in the evening there's a good run of seafood and beachside restaurants. The north end is Dongtan Beach, which is quieter and more shaded, while further south is Na Jomtien, the strip of upscale beachfront resorts. There are plenty of condos and monthly apartments here, so the area has a settled crowd of expats and long-stay visitors. Getting around mostly means a songthaew, taxi, Grab, or a rented scooter, and central Pattaya and Walking Street are a short ride away.

FAQ

How does Jomtien differ from Pattaya Beach, and who is it for?

Jomtien is quieter than Pattaya Beach, with a longer stretch of wider sand and far less nightlife. It suits families, couples, and anyone after a relaxed long stay. If you want a full strip of bars, clubs, and late-night energy like Walking Street, Pattaya Beach is closer and a better match. That said, Jomtien and central Pattaya are only a 10-15 minute ride apart, so you can head out at night and still sleep by a calm beach.

Is it easy to get around Jomtien, and do I need to rent a vehicle?

Songthaews run along the Jomtien beach road and into central Pattaya cheaply, and Grab or taxis are easy to get otherwise. If you plan to visit the floating market, water parks, or sights around the area over several days, renting a scooter is more flexible and cheaper, though the beach road gets busy in the evening, so ride carefully. Long-stay guests out in Na Jomtien, which is further south, will find a car or scooter more convenient than relying on public transport alone.

Is Jomtien good for a long stay?

Very much so. The area has plenty of condos and apartments for monthly rent, along with restaurants, convenience stores, supermarkets, and markets that make daily life easy. Accommodation and living costs run lower than the Pattaya Beach area, and the calmer atmosphere suits settling in. Many hotels also offer weekly or monthly rates, so if you're planning several weeks, ask the property directly about long-stay pricing, which usually beats booking night by night.
